CNG: Not too far from Hydrogen
Sunday, September 21st, 2008There is alot of information about the whole Water 4 Gas craze. Whether they’re calling it “Drive your car on Water” or “WaterCar” or whatever the name may be, you still have to wonder if this is really true or not. All of the ads and claims you see sound like a total scam for sure. But, in the end there really is scientific fact to it all.
Water 4 Gas is simply the process of taking water, and through an electrolytic process, extract the hydrogen from it and feed it into your car to be used as a fuel. The U.S. Army was doing this long before the grip of oil took hold of our country the way it is today. Using hydrogen for fuel is cheap, easy to create, easy to install and implement and its safer than petroleum.
Now many if not all of these facts are often disputed because Big Oil Corporations DO NOT want hydrogen to be used for fuel. Now I don’t mean to sound like a conspiracy theorist or anything, but if you talk to any of the current companies today that are producing alternative fuels equipment they will tell the odds are stacked against you. Its just a fact of doing business in this industry. It is cut throat.
But that doesnt mean that things wont change and change quickly. There are huge movements to get compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles on the road and get existing vehicles converted to CNG. Natural gas is abundant here in the states and will buy us some time to develop more long term energy solutions.
The really good news is that ALL of the tools and equipment needed to convert a car or truck to CNG can also be used to convert a car or truck to hydrogen! The storage tank, injectors, timing changes can all apply to the use with hydrogen. And if you’ve been reading up on your hydrogen you know that hydrogen is just about free!!!
If you have some time I highly recommend watching some of the cool videos on Youtube.com of Roy McAlister explaining Hydrogen fundementals
Until next time!

Now this electrolysis process doesn’t create pure hydrogen. Obtaining pure hydrogen is a more costly procedure because all other gases must be filtered out to remove the carbon monoxide and dioxides. But for use as fuel in a car or truck, dirty hydrogen or Browns gas works just fine. Browns Gas, sometimes called HHO or 2HO or Hydroxy, is simply raw hydrogen created from an electrolysis process. Arguably invented by Yull Brown.
